Squat Mak – Mushroom

Squat Mak (also spelled Squat Mac) is a Psilocybe cubensis isolation out of the Melmac line, which itself descends from Penis Envy. It is a designer strain rather than a wild collection, selected over successive generations for its unusually compact build. Sources disagree on who did the original isolation work, so we are not going to attribute it, but the Melmac PE parentage is consistent across every reference we checked.

The name describes the mushroom. Squat Mak fruits short and heavy: thick, pale cream stems well under the height of a typical cubensis, topped with dense golden-brown caps that dome as they mature. Handling bruises them blue. Growers favour the strain for how aggressively it colonises and how well those dense fruits hold up to handling, which is part of why it circulates in cultivation circles more than it shows up on retail shelves.

Reported potency sits in the moderately elevated range, above a standard Golden Teachers and below the Penis Envy varieties further up the family tree. Users commonly describe euphoria, visual movement and a strong introspective pull, with the experience typically running four to six hours and peaking around the two to three hour mark. Elephant Garden carried Melmac itself a few seasons back, and Squat Mak reads as a shorter, denser take on that same line.
